I’ve Got Your Number

Tired and exhausted,
I attempt to rest in Your hands.
My body so weak and tired
That only Your healing touch understands.
Nightfall, thunderstorms, pouring rain…
They fall together.
Yet I will take shelter with You
In all forms of weather.
Life speaks to even my dream
And I vision Your sight.
Trust in You and Your Son to come,
And He’ll be my Guiding Light.
Underneath the sky and moon,
I rest my soul to slumber.
If there is a need that arises,
I know I’ve got Your number.

Life Is Passing Me By

Everything is going, going,
Almost gone.
How can I stop it?
Or just hang on?
I can’t get the message.
The point is so vague.
I can’t figure out
The mistake I’ve made.
What have I done
To lose so much?
What’s taking away
My magical touch?
How can it all
Just fall apart?
I know I can still love.
I feel it in my heart.
Somebody help me.
Saving my dying life.
I just want someone
To break the strife.
Soul searching… help.
I’m quickly getting weak.
I can’t take the emptiness.
My eyes begin to leak.

Dead and Dying, I Wish I Were

Dead and dying I wish I were.
In so much pain, my body hurts.
Screaming veins, pounding blood.
I feel as though I’m made of mud.
It could not help.
It could not aid.
The way I long.
The bed we’ve made.
What’s your reason?
What’s your cry?
What’s the point
In asking why?
You cannot see.
You cannot speak.
My body limbers,
Growing weak.
What’s the hurry?
What’s the rush?
To think of this
Is just too much.

Challenged Hearts

Save a tear for me
And wipe away my blood.
Only through my broken window,
Can I escape the flood.
Reach to the sphere above,
And avoid the careless fall.
When you feel the agony,
Do not try to call.
Nails of sand beneath my feet
Touching those at war.
Could you survive the destiny
We all have seen before?
Walk away and taste the sweat
Falling forth to speak.
Do not try to overcome.
You will always be too weak!

The Challenge of Christianity

Christianity is an ongoing challenge…
to be what we are suppose to be…
to avoid that which is forbidden…
to not care what others think of us…
yet be precisely careful of our testimony.
Every moment is accounted for
and every word speaks volumes.
Our silence can be the peacemaker
or the strife that destroys everything.
We are to be strong and follow God.
We are to allow our weaknesses to be His strength.
We are to bear one another’s burdens,
yet work out our own salvation.
We are to be bold and speak up
and save others from the flames.
We are to be quiet, sympathetic,
and not throw around the blame.
There is so much required of us,
so much expected of us,
and so much given through us.
Balancing honor and disobedience
while never separating the two
is a challenge only God can help us through.
Lord, we ask You to help us to always
honor and obey in love.
You are worthy of the glory!

Defeated At Times

Defeated at times by the stress of life,
I wonder if I can really be saved.
Then I remember I already have been
and wonder why I have so easily caved.
Your power seems so nonexistent
to the never ending reality of this place,
yet it is the only thing that gets me through
and expresses your loving grace,
People seem so insensitive and demanding
and some are weak and greedy,
yet I too am a part of this rat race
and am surely so feeble and needy.
I lay upon this bed so late
praying for the rest I need in sleep,
praying also that I’ll see Your tender heart
in my dreams I gratefully keep.
