Permission to Pen

So freeing is the pen that dances on the page.
So beautiful is the ink that displays.
So strong is the paper that supports.
So refreshing are the words that convey.
How does one go without the pen?
How does one restrain the ink?
How does one avoid the paper?
How does one refrain what they think?
It is such a challenge not to pen.
A challenge to keep the ink dry.
The paper waits in agony
To let the mind cry.
“Here am I. I do exist! My thoughts are burning within!”
They wait for God’s Holy Spirit to permit, “Begin.”

Your Instruction, His Lesson

Off on a mountain top,
somewhere alone with You.
He is seeking Your wisdom
and Your guidance too.
He has forsaken all others
to enter Your presence.
He seeks Your instruction
to prepare His lesson.
His view is prepared
by Your majestic hand.
There is something in creation
that will cause him to understand.
Then at times, he’ll go inside
and You will shut the door.
There in the darkness
He will grow even more.
When You are ready
and deem he is too,
You will send him forth
to share more of You.

Striving Among the Strife

Striving for You
in a world striving against You,
in a world striving against anyone
who strives for You.
Striving to love one another
in a world that doesn’t love You,
yet You loved them anyway,
and still do.
Striving to obey Your law
by obeying the law of man,
when their law goes against You
and all who would dare to stand.
Striving for peace
in a world filled with hate.
Their love confuses them
because Yours is up for debate.
Trusting in Your will
when Your will is not ours,
when evil seems to be given
unthinkable powers.
To doubt or fear
is to judge You in haste.
There is not a moment of life
that You waste.

Another Day in the Ark

Another day in the ark,
and all the critters are stirring.
Every creature in here
wonders what is occurring.
Trapped inside
and distracted by life,
we are overwhelmed
by our strife.
Sometimes we see the windows.
Sometimes we see the sky.
Sometimes we spread our wings
and dream that we can fly.
Sometimes we even notice
the door across the room,
but then the lock and barricade
bring back the gloom.
Watching and waiting
for the Captain to unlock,
we continue to dream
of the day we dock.

Still Wading

Out here in this ark
I still wade among the waves.
Though completely disoriented,
I trust in the God who saves.
The rocking and bouncing
throw my balance off,
but I choose to praise
verses choosing to scoff.
Where is the storm leading?
What direction am I even going?
I am so overwhelmed.
I don’t even know what I’m doing.
Yet there is a Captain at the helm
that I completely trust to steer.
Wherever He docks this ark,
I just want Him to stay near.

Resting In Your Palms

Heaven and the heavenly host,
Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost,
and all the angels of God,
family, friends, and those forgotten.
All these wait for us to arrive,
waiting for our bodies to revive,
waiting to welcome us home,
never to be left again to roam,
waiting to rejoice and sing together,
praising our Lord Jesus forever.
What joys will we behold
that has not yet been told?
I long for the reunion and greeting,
especially when I ponder all that I’ll be meeting.
Thank You, Jesus, for hope in the Psalms.
Thank You for protection resting in your palms.

My Solid Desert Rock

Wasting away amid this desert,
I cling to this rock.
My exhausted and defeated vessel
is in shock.
With no strength of my own,
I lay amid the dirt
praising your name
that I am too numb to hurt.
This arid and burning heat
actually comforts my wounds.
My oasis is in the hope
of You coming for me soon.
I am well aware of the journey
it took to get this far,
and only You know the way.
You are my guiding star.
This rock… this completely solid rock
is where I take refuge.
What happens from here
is completely up to You.

The Invitation Stands

God’s waiting for an answer to His request,
to come to the gathering of all His welcomed guests.
He’s waiting to bring you closer to a life of endless love,
a paradise away from pain in the heaven up above.
All the angels are serving well to try and give us help
on how to learn to do things right as we give things of ourselves.
We’re all invited to a place where everyone is kind.
Love in God is what we’ll praise. It will never leave our mind.
God, I hope you know I say I want to respond real soon.
Yes, I want to be with you and hope the others will want to, too.

He’s Still There

God is still there.
He’s still in my heart.
I thought we were separated,
but we were never apart.
He wouldn’t walk away
or say, “I give up.”
Instead, He embraced me
and gave me His love.
Why did I feel that He
had closed His eyes to me,
when all He ever wanted
was to help me to see
that I am His child
and always in His hands?
When I’m feeling so lost,
He always understands.
Why do I fall for it,
the trick of the evil lie
that God will throw us away
if we don’t even try?
For this is the time
that He promised to forgive.
He’s not going to take away
the love He wants to live.

Resistant Faith

You stood before my Majesty
and laid your gifts to bribe,
but oh you were disappointed
to find not your name in the scribe.
You dreamt of things to share,
but continued to hide away.
What sadness pained your heart
to know you’d lose on judgment day.
Taking all the written laws
and abiding with conditions,
how horrible to be condemned
by your own propositions.
Won’t you lay yourself to rest
and honor our Lord God Almighty?
He only asks for your repentance
to offer a life beside Him.

Finally… Coming Home

Finally… the guys are coming home.
We’ve been praying for so long, and God heard us all along.
Yes, we lost a few men, and in my opinion many souls
who gave their all to defend our and their country.
We can’t forget them, and if we were to, it would be such a shame.
For a life lost for fighting for yet another life,
is wonderful compared to a life lost and forgotten.
And let us not forget our allies who were there by our side.
They were just as important, and played a very valuable role.
Without them we would have had a longer war and lost more lives.
Oh, for so long we’ve waited for them to come, but there are some
who will never come home, nor receive a honorable burial either,
due to the tragedy of becoming lost in combat.
No one knows where they are, nor what they go through,
and if they’ll ever return or be found.
We pray for them and their families.
And the prisoners of war are finally walking away from their horrible chains.
But the nightmare will carry on.
Let’s pray for them all – and thank God
that those of whom are coming home are blessed enough to do so.
And as we thank God, let us not forget,
those that are still over there, waiting to come home.
Waiting to see our land again, and hold their families.
May God be with us all.

Teetering Scales

Balancing between the scales,
they tip back and forth.
I wait to see the bottom line.
The wait is the worth.
Making sure the scales are even
and evenly weighted,
if there was a deception
the results could be debated.
Watching for the scales to slow,
I wonder should I know?
Should I have even tested
or was it time to grow?
God has His hands on the scales
and puts my eyes on the meter.
I wait to see His answer.
For now they only teeter.

One Horrible and Final Day

There is so much coming our way
one horrible and final day.
Anyone not under the blood of Christ
will be given to believe Satan’s lies.
Death and destruction, torture forever
will swallow those who think they’re clever.
God does not wish for any to perish.
What He created, He loves to cherish.
He wants all to love one another
and to rescue our dying sister or brother.
Encourage one another in these hard times.
Protect and guard our own wayward minds.
Beloved, don’t get distracted with woe.
For the blessed hope of eternity we know.
Keep our mind’s eye on the things above.
And rest in knowing God’s faithful love.

Mandatory Invitation

Attention! Attention!
Can everyone hear?
This is a message
from someone so dear!
There is a feast
to celebrate the found.
Those who are freed
are no longer bound.
Make your presence clear
to honor the King.
He won’t take a no.
It’s a mandatory thing.
Show your love and respect
by showing up there.
He’ll be waiting
to see that you care!

Clinging to God’s Word

Clinging so tight to God’s word,
I cling to His heart.
I hold onto His promises
that He will never depart.
His word does not fail us
like we fail Him.
When He makes promises,
He keeps them.
Endurance, mercy, patience
He knows so well.
In His presence
I long to dwell.
Jesus said He prepared
a place just for me.
I believe so strong.
I’m eager to see!
