1999: A Year to Struggle and Complete

Nineteen Hundred and Ninety Nine… what a year.
For me it has been a year to struggle and complete.
From school to relationships, to health and strength.
This was the year to shout the victory or face defeat.
I began it with joy and confidence, and peace, and strength.
I walked through blinding light and deceiving signs.
I fought the war of keeping my sanity, as well as family and friends.
And though I may have lost a little of each, God’s light still shines.
Friends have passed on, babies were born, families continued to fight.
Relationships fell apart, some began, some were declared forever.
People turned their back on each other, some thought only of themselves
But praise the Lord for those who made up and faced thing together.
So much began, so much continued, so much came to an end.
So much life and death took place in this year that is passing us by.
Love was found, love prevailed, love continued to grow.
And even when love seemed forsaken, God’s love heard the cry.
For me it was the year my schooling would be complete.
Now I am to seek God’s purpose in my education,
And praise Him that His guiding light never fades.
The year 2000 we are approaching is the Big Y2K,
And a new millennium for God’s created art.
But no matter what may happen I will always be convinced
That God holds us in His loving and caring heart.

Friendship? – What’s That?

Friendship? – What’s that?
Is that what you were laughing at?
You could’ve fooled me with that
Wicked smile.
I thought you were going to
Play awhile.
You sure are slow
At letting me in,
But I guess that’s the only way
You can win.
Which is more important?
The victory or me?
Oh, it’s the thrill
Of being set free?
Well no problem.
You can walk away.
Just don’t come crying
On a lonely day.

Inspiration: A person who was known to be a good friend to me was trying to set my brother up to be jumped and beaten for being gay, trying to impress her boyfriend and his friends, and tried to trick me to make it happen, all the while smiling like she was my friend. They were trying to do this on my birthday, trying to take advantage of it for a distraction. I ended our friendship right there. Weeks later on her birthday she came crying, trying to get me to restore our friendship as “best friends.” She was even using my brother, crying about missing me, and it being her birthday. It did not work.

Hold Your Weapons

Hailstones… stones that come down from heaven.
Weapons… a means to kill the enemy with.
Revenge… to retaliate justice to the wicked.
Victory… revenge and victory are always His.
We have a God who is very active with us,
Who is aware of everything we do.
He is ready to fight our battles,
Ready to defeat our enemies too.
Hold close to God so that you’ll always know
If you are choosing to be HIS enemy.
He wants only to love and protect you,
If you will just let it be.
Be careful not to mock your enemies
Or rejoice at their destruction,
For you were an enemy of God too
Before you chose to heed His instruction.

Obedience = God’s Will

Young, unknown,
untrained, unwanted,
yet unmoved!
David was chosen
by God himself,
despite being unapproved.
Willingness to obey,
faithful to his own,
a man after God’s own heart.
David won his victory
when asked to duty,
not knowing his vital part.
Don’t turn away
what God can give
when we simply obey.
The battle is fierce,
the army unkind,
but God will have his way.
