One True King

How sad when a testimony leads astray
Those led by it all the way.
Losing a leader causes fear.
“What if we have no one! Oh, Dear!”
We plot, discuss, and plan.
Our heart’s desire is to trust in man.
We place our faith in one man’s strength,
To provide, to fight, to be our defense.
We forget the God who gave us life,
Who saves us from our daily strife.
He nurtures, listens, and forgives.
We could never give back all He gives.
The One True King of all the earth
Has loved us from the day of our birth.
He is present and near, strong to lead.
He is capable of all we need.
May You find us faithful, Our Heavenly King.
We trust in You with everything.

Unveiling Love

Lovely lacey cloth, how pretty you are
Dangling from her back.
How delightfully happy she was
When her Father lifted you
Off of her smiling face.
Such happiness to be unveiled
Brought forth the bride for her Groom.
Love was shown for all to see
As they joined hand in hand.
A look of love and peaceful joy.
Among a crowd of family and friends
They testified of God above.
Each time you dance around
I see the joy she’s found.
Each step He holds her to dance,
You glisten with radiant delight.
Thank you for revealing to me
The love that waits with Him.
I have been blessed to witness.

I FEAR

Lord, I carry so much fear.
I love and trust You,
But I fear my actions fail to say so.
I fear my testimony fails You…
Taints You…
Draws You unjust bias…
Undeserved blame.
I fear I disappoint You,
And I fear I discourage others.
I fear I ruin communications…
With me and You…
With others…
Sometimes even myself.
I fear being at the mercy of others,
Especially those who are cruel,
And those who cruelly laugh at me,
Laugh at my pain.
I fear that I hurt others.
I fear being forgotten.
I fear failing to leave the testimony
That You expect of me,
Hope of me…
For You.
I fear.

God, What Do I Write?

God, what do I write?
What do I testify to?
Who do I testify to?
What do I do to make sure it’s written?
I want to serve You
In the way You have planned for me.
In whatever way I am unprepared,
Prepare me.
Wherever I am failing You,
Lift me up to You.
My life is Yours.
ALWAYS.
My soul is Yours!
ETERNALLY!

Victory In One Name

What’s in a name?

That question is famously known.

I’d like to know the meaning

in my own.

Is it good or is it bad?

Do I live up to the name?

Do I do it proud

or bring it shame?

God allowed my name

to be given to me,

and knew those who met me

would hear and see.

I just pray that I live up to

all that God hopes me to,

for there is victory in His name

if I seek what He says do.

And there is only One name

to be above all names,

and it is in this Jesus Christ

that victory can be claimed.

The Challenge of Christianity

Christianity is an ongoing challenge…
to be what we are suppose to be…
to avoid that which is forbidden…
to not care what others think of us…
yet be precisely careful of our testimony.
Every moment is accounted for
and every word speaks volumes.
Our silence can be the peacemaker
or the strife that destroys everything.
We are to be strong and follow God.
We are to allow our weaknesses to be His strength.
We are to bear one another’s burdens,
yet work out our own salvation.
We are to be bold and speak up
and save others from the flames.
We are to be quiet, sympathetic,
and not throw around the blame.
There is so much required of us,
so much expected of us,
and so much given through us.
Balancing honor and disobedience
while never separating the two
is a challenge only God can help us through.
Lord, we ask You to help us to always
honor and obey in love.
You are worthy of the glory!

Influence

Influence is something we all possess,
whether we believe it or not,
want it or not,
or care or not.
Our actions are witnessed by others
at all times.
They are emulated openly and secretly.
Others pay attention
even when we don’t.
That influence is our God given gift.
We are to use it to honor God,
to reach the lost,
to encourage the broken hearted,
to lead the sheep back home.
We need so desperately
to nurture and discipline our influence,
as it can so easily destroy.
The influence we share
will be the influence others pass on.
Lord, may your Holy Spirit
help us to be and share
the influence You ask of us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Keeping Christ First

Keeping Christ first
is the key to everything.
For in following Him,
obedience it will bring.
So many challenges
of this world will arise.
The wisdom hard to find
is in keeping our eyes on Christ.
People are the most challenging.
Do we shun or reach?
Just follow Christ.
Our testimony will preach.
In the end it is Christ
we are to trust and obey.
Seeking to please Him
in every way.

Good Courage & Strength

Good courage
is what God wants from us,
to give Him strength
to show He’s just.
If we waiver and cower
or fail to even try,
then we make our testimony
of His strength a lie.
May I show the world
what an awesome God You are.
Your strength and courage
have helped me come so far.
You are worthy, oh God,
of praise and glory.
May my courage and strength
tell of Your amazing story.

Praying Before the Unbelieving

Praying before the unbelieving
When the unbelieving are paying attention.
When they are watching for the result.
Watching to judge your intention.
When your prayers are heard in silence,
Or silently being heard.
When they cling to every expression.
When they think on every word.
When they watch for your reaction
To the answer being, “No.”
When they believe “Yes” is a secret
They desperately want to know.
These are the times my God creates
To bring our thoughts to Him.
He is warning, confirming,
And reaching out to them.
Will they listen? Will they believe?
Will they seek and receive?
I MUST pray to the Holy Spirit,
Whom I do not want to grieve.

God Said Yes

God could have said, “Yes”
when Jesus asked for another way.
He could have granted His Son’s prayer
by simply saying, “Okay.”
He could have said,
“They’re really not worth the effort.
There’s no point in trying to save them.
There’s no need for You to hurt.”
He could have called us a waste,
and do as most parents would,
cater to whatever the child asked for,
forsaking doing what was good.
But God was thinking of all His children
and allowed His Son to save.
To reconcile us all to God,
Jesus was sent to His grave.
But only for a moment
did that dark and cold tomb
hold the hope of the world
in such a dark and cold gloom.
For that Father who sent His Son
called, “Jesus, Come forth!”
Then removed His Son’s cup
and gladly said, “Yes.”

Passing Angels and Warriors

Moments of hardship arise,
and so does our God.
He sends His warriors
and angels abroad.
They minister and encourage,
and maybe even provide
a token of God’s love
by being at our side.
Whether in sweet fellowship
with a dear old soul,
or comforting companionship
with one not quite whole.
Whether giving advice
greatly sought,
or allowing wisdom
to be taught.
They take their charge
and serve God well,
leaving such a strong testimony
to tell.

Make All That I Am

God, I beg you, save my soul.
Hear my confession. Take control.
Forgive my sins and wash me clean.
Help me be what You have seen.
Make my life a testimony,
that Your love is not phony.
Make my purpose known to all.
Catch and heal me when I fall.
Go before me and clear the path.
Spare me of facing Your deadly wrath.
Make my witness Your saving tool
to rescue the soul who is a fool.
Testify through me Your grace.
Place Your peace upon my face.
Share with others Your message of mercy.
Comfort others who are suffering and hurting.
Make all that I am, all that You intended.
Praise you and the Savior for this life you have mended.
