Faithful Compassion

How incredibly amazing
does Your word remind us
how You are.
So many times You blessed
and forgave Israel.
You were never too far.
Despite the whining,
the selfish complaining,
the ungrateful hearts.
You were loving
and merciful
to not depart.
God, Oh Father,
may we ever
praise
Your Holy name,
Your Holy grace,
Your Holy ways.

Law of Death, Pardon of life

Rules, laws, regulations,
ways by which to live.
We dread the protection
that God was generous to give.
Fines, punishment,
sentences to carry out.
With so much clarity,
there is little room for doubt.
Yet just as sure,
is the guarantee to fail.
While stuck in this flesh,
sin will prevail.
Thank God for a Savior
who recognized
the need for mercy,
and gave with His life.
Now we are freed
from this law of death,
given grace from above
to draw eternal breath.

Comfort By a Differing Sorrow

Giving our lives to You
gives us death that blesses.
Through Your own death,
You take away the guesses.
Sorrow is not the same.
Suffering is our joy.
We have the right weapons.
We just have to employ.
What a comfort we have
in all that You bring.
Your all sufficient grace
covers everything.
May we share that comfort
with those dying in vain.
May Your love and mercy
revive them again.

Still Taking Our Place

Born and stricken.
Beaten and slain.
All your sorrows
were for our gain.
Mocked and scorned.
Denied and rejected.
You love us despite
that You are neglected.
Loving and merciful.
Full of grace.
You are still
taking our place.
Humbled and thankful,
I bow before Your heart.
Thank You for reassuring
we’ll never be apart.

Your Influence

Your precious love abides. Your Spirit lives inside.
Your presence pleases me. Your comfort eases me.
Your guiding light leads. My obedience heeds.
Your word instructs. My discipline trusts.
Your hymn lifts my voice. I praise by choice.
Your encouragement cheers. Your tenderness endears.
Your mercy secures. Your grace assures.
Your salvation saves. My humility behaves.
Your insight inspires. My rebellion retires.

Until

A lot to live up to,
we are blessed by grace.
All that was required?
Jesus took our place.
Expectations are great,
the burden great as well.
Praise God for His mercy,
knowing we will fail.
Requirements met.
Expectations fulfilled.
The law was needed…
UNTIL!
Christ has rescued.
Christ has redeemed.
What He has given
is more than a dream.

No Right to Proclaim

God, I’m sorry for the way I’ve done.
I’ve no right to proclaim
that You will always love me so,
and even know me by name.
Your love is too merciful
and glorious to shame,
yet all I do is continue sinning.
Yes, I’m the one to blame.
How do I make this brand new start
that’s living out Your will?
I cannot even stay away
from the things I love still.
You’re such a loving God of we,
how do we earn Your care?
I’m just glad to know You’re so forgiving
or else You wouldn’t be there.

Clinging to God’s Word

Clinging so tight to God’s word,
I cling to His heart.
I hold onto His promises
that He will never depart.
His word does not fail us
like we fail Him.
When He makes promises,
He keeps them.
Endurance, mercy, patience
He knows so well.
In His presence
I long to dwell.
Jesus said He prepared
a place just for me.
I believe so strong.
I’m eager to see!

Adopted By The Jewish King

Do we even know how blessed we are
to have been adopted by THE Jewish King?
We Gentiles were His enemy
before He lovingly changed everything.
Israel was His chosen people and land.
We weren’t even a concern.
Praise God along the way
He allowed us to live and learn
of who He is and what He represents
to every creature He made.
Now by His mercy and grace,
our penalty for sin has been paid.
We, too, are allowed to enjoy
His eternal promise of love.
For He has promised the Comforter,
and a mansion waiting for us above.
Thank you, Jesus, for including me
and allowing me salvation.
I’m so glad You chose to save
even those who were not of Your nation.

Abundant Want

So often I have felt so burdened
to have so much need.
I struggle to discern,
is this a test to contend or plead?
I do not want to insult God,
nor profane His name to any.
I know there are commands to ask
and commands to know I have plenty.
Yet 2 Corinthians 8:14
says my want is to be a supply
from those He’s blessed abundantly,
to show that all comes from on high.
And likewise my abundance
is to supply someone else’s want,
so that all those who witness
know it all comes from One.
May I seek to be content
and fulfill Your perfect plan.
I want to be a blessing,
even when I don’t understand.

Through Hands That Bleed

God is a very caring man,
who is so very patient and warm.
He understands His children
and comforts them in His arms.
He stretched those arms on His Son,
across the world and died.
And then He asked only for all to love Him.
For this, I’ve cried.
A man gave His Son to die.
His Son died for me.
What more could you ask for from anyone
when love is all you need?
Oh please reevaluate
the life you’ve chosen to lead.
God is waiting to give us life and love
through His Son’s hands that bleed.

My Love Will Never End

God touched a little girl broken and abandoned
and said, “I’ll be your friend.”
He drew her into His arms and loved her,
and promised He would to the end.
As she grew, she lived on His word,
never able to forget.
Whenever she made a mistake that hurt Him,
she would soon regret.
Tormented by guilt and shame of her choices,
she grew away more each day.
Her Lord came in patient mercy and asked,
“Why do you push me away?”
With tear filled eyes, she looked into His
and simply replied,
“You said you would love me to the end,
but one day I will die.”
With concern He looked at her and reassured,
“But that will keep us together.”
“Yes,” she said, “If I had no sin in my life.
But only Heaven and Hell are forever.
You said you would love me to the end
and that I have believed.
But I am filled with sorrow to know
at my death You must leave.”
Touched by the misunderstanding
of the heart He knew He could mend,
God lovingly responded, “Then let me rephrase that,
my love for you will never end.”

Thy Will Be Done

Day by day, I await for Your healing upon my soul.
Daily I am tormented by the consequences of my sin.
I can accept the responsibility of admitting I did,
but my soul is endangered by the guilt and shame within.
I long so desperately to repent of whatever I have withheld.
I yearn to give You the complete control you demand.
So often I cry unto You, “Please forgive me and heal me!”
And wait for You to love, comfort, and take my hand.
If I am missing something that says You have,
I pray the Holy Spirit would open my eyes and heart.
If Satan still holds any power, I lean on Your promises
to release his hold and make the pain and shame depart.
How can I live for You, witness for You,
when all I ever feel is I am a waste of Your precious time?
Do You not feel I need to be confident in You,
and those who witness my walk see the peace of mind?
In desperation, I cling to You, Your arms to shelter me.
I want only to grow stronger in You and Your Son.
I praise You for allowing me to be honest with You,
and praise You for the faith of knowing Thy Will Be Done.

Forgiveness Is A Real Comfort

Sin is real. It’s so real, it’s scary.
It’s scary how it has so much control.
It’s scary how it has a grip on me.
It’s scary that I seem to have a grip on sin.
Whether it’s lying, stealing, or coveting
sin is something that God hates.
And for that reason alone, I know that hell is real.
Eternal condemnation is real.
The reality of it’s existence is scary.
It’s so scary to know it wants me.
It’s so scary to know it waits for me to fail.
How scary to know that Satan can make evil
such a pleasurably and comforting feeling.
It’s scary to know that he smiles in the dark
to know he has yet lured me again.
Forgiveness is so real. It’s a comforting thing.
It too waits for me and smiles,
but thank God because it’s a part of Christ’s love.
It’s so comforting to know it embraces me.
It’s so comforting to know it rescues me.
It’s so comforting to know it cleanses me.
And most of all, it comforts me to know
it strengthens me and makes it possible to resist sin.
Forgiveness makes me a new person.
And that is a real comfort.

A Single Christian Mom

A Christian mother and a single mother,
that’s what I am,
though I know that was not a part of
God’s original plan.
He had greater ideas for my son and I
before I made a mistake,
yet I know He still cares for us
and will mold us for His sake.
Each day is hard as a single Christian mom,
but each day belongs to Him,
so I will lift my praise each day
and find comfort in His hymn.
