Between Toll and Soul

Lord, I pay bill after bill
And it seems I only get more behind.
I know this isn’t so poetic.
But this is what’s on my mind.
I know money doesn’t matter to You,
And that You grace us with blessings.
Yet we are also to tithe our gifts,
And the bills just keep on pressing.
How do we balance between toll and soul
When we cannot ignore the cost of living?
How do we encourage one another
When there’s pressure to be giving?
So many say don’t worry about it,
That worrying is a sin,
Yet even You know we must give to Caesar
And tithe tithe to the ordained men.
Please forgive me, if my prayer is wrong.
I do not wish to shame.
I am just bringing it to Your throne,
And praying in Your Son’s Holy name.
Amen

Love Was On The Cross

Love is when you’re willing to give to someone else
simply because you would have it no other way.
It’s knowing you would be there for them
No matter what, no matter when, and no matter why.
It’s knowing sometimes you will never gain anything in return,
And instead of regretting, you find comfort
In knowing you never wanted it to begin with.

Love is saying you’re sorry,
even when you have nothing to be sorry about,
Or maybe taking the blame
When it could even cost you your life,
And even if they never care that you existed,
You will always have known you did the right thing
Because you loved them… and still do.

Love is being able to forgive when there is no reason to.
If anything, they may even be so unworthy of acknowledgment
As you pass them by.
But you would never harm them, hurt them, seek revenge,
Or dare bring them despair.
Tears and pain are well too known to you
To ever place them on someone you love.

Love is simply being willing to lay your life on the line…
Or on the Cross.

Sharing

Spoiling my friends,
It’s something I love to do.
I mean no harm or offense.
My motive, I assure you, is true.
I am not trying to get on anyone’s good side.
It’s just my way of expressing
A caring I just can’t hide.
If in the future we are apart,
Like many friends who’ve left,
I hope you’ll remember me by the things I give of myself.
I’m afraid there will be many times and many friends
I won’t have the money or opportunity
To have anything to send.
For all of those I give something,
Please accept and keep.
And sincerely for those I forget or miss,
The regret is running deep.

Generations of Love

Generations of love have passed
Right down through my veins.
And as I see the love in my son,
I know the love remains.
He is so caring and so bright,
Always enjoying living.
And though he’s more than spoiled by many,
He’s always very giving.
Don’t be down or make a frown,
Or he just might attack.
For just when you have lost your smile,
He wll quickly bring it back.
And certainly, he is a sight
For everyone to enjoy.
For this is why I’m more than pleased
To say I love my boy.

Our Parental Father

Many times in our world
we are discouraged in helping our kids,
especially if they’re grown up
or even have their own kids.
Yet God is our example
in how he’s always there for us.
His love is giving and patient,
as well as good and just.
There is a need to grow and learn,
and a pleasure in seeing fruit,
but God is a parent who knows
we are always seeking the truth.
He also knows that though we learn,
we still are able to fail,
and just like a sympathetic father,
he longs to make us feel well.
Don’t give up on your kids,
and give them all you can.
God never gives up on us,
and walks us hand in hand.

Finding Yourself in Them

The help of others to someone in need.
To help the wounded of those who bleed.
To comfort the mourning as they ache.
To give for pleasure with no intention to take.
To ease the child so terrified by night.
To lift the darkness of the blind to light.
To cheer the soul imprisoned in gloom.
To save the perilous from impending doom.
To raise the child abandoned by love.
To restore a lost faith for God above.
These are just a few things my Savior does
Whenever we give ourselves to what He was.
Never think that your life is a waste.
Never quit, or misjudge Him in haste.
For in the life you give to Him,
You find yourself in giving to them.
