Jesus’ Song for Gail (taken from Song of Solomon 3)

1. By night [from heaven] I sought [Gail], but I found [Gail] not.
2. I will rise now, and go about the [earth to and fro], I will seek [Gail] whom my [Spirit] loveth: I sought [Gail], but I found [Gail] not.
3. The [angels] that go about the [earth] found me: to whom I said, Saw ye [Gail] whom my [Spirit] loveth?
4. It was but a little that I passed from there, but I found [Gail] whom my [Spirit] loveth: I held [Gail], and would not let [Gail] go, until I had brought [Gail] into my [Father’s] house, and into the [presence] of [the Holy Ghost] that conceived me.
5. I charge ye, O ye [children of God running about tending to God’s harvest] that ye stir not up, nor awake [Gail], till [Gail] please.
6. Who is this that cometh [through the fiery trials of her life shining with the light of God upon her]?
7. Behold [Gail lays upon her bed], a [host of angels] are about it, of [the angels of God].
8. They all had swords, being expert in war: every [angel] hath his sword upon his thigh [to protect Gail from things of the night].
9. [Gail is a vessel of the Lord].
10. [Gail is made of God, and is adorned with God’s mercy and grace, so that Gail can carry God’s love for all of God’s children].
11.Go forth, O ye [children of God], and behold [Gail] with the [glory] wherewith [Gail’s Father glorified Gail] in the day of [Gail’s salvation], and in the day of gladness of [Gail’s] heart.

This poem does not belong to me or anyone, yet it is written for every single one of us! It is Song of Solomon Chapter 3 of the Bible. I merely placed my name wherever the word was talking about me (us). Please take a moment, when the Lord allows, to replace my name with yours to read the love your beloved Savior has for you! It is the most beautiful love letter! ❤

Farewell Childhood Friend

Farewell my childhood friend.
It’s time to let you go.
You have been such a comfort,
more than you’ll ever know.
It’s sad seeing you leaving.
I’m sure it must be best.
Life has long been the teacher
that keeps giving us the test.
May you find happiness
in all you venture in.
Take good care of yourself
and don’t forget your friend.

PS… for someone no longer here 😦

Your Back and Forth

So scared to leave,
Yet no desire to stay.
Just going with
Whatever comes my way.
Scared to be alone
Even right beside you.
So secure of myself
But so unsure of you.
So caring and concerned.
Determined to drive fear away.
Soon pride and insecurity
Seem to wish me away.
Yet if I make
One step to the door,
You are quick to insist
Evermore.
What are you trying to say?
Why do you question?
What do you want me to say,
If you want to teach me a lesson?
Don’t want me to love.
Don’t want me to hate.
Don’t want me to belong.
Don’t want me to wait.
How confused your message.
How confused you are.
You expected me to flee
When you’ve raised the bar.
Imprisoned in your confusion.
I victimize myself.
I no longer escape you
When I become your help.

Addicted to Need

He laughs, Lord, but he has no idea.
That horrible feeling of I must.
Was it for the affection?
Or simply out of lust?
The imprisonment of
I just can’t get enough.
Contentment escapes me
even when there’s love.
Or was it even me?
As now I can finally see
the pleasure love had
to have control of me.
Why must one who has
every part of my flesh
insist on my sanity
not belong to myself?
And regardless of his intent,
where was my control?
It was my body.
It was my soul.
Even now I can feel that fear
that seemed to cripple me.
A fear so manipulated
it secured with need.
This new voice
has so much faith in me.
I hope he’s right
Because I still can’t see.

Crossing the Line

Leashes break and dogs bite,
so the speaker said.
If you’re going to play with fire,
you know what lies ahead.
Is that what I’ve done
in returning to a danger zone?
Should I not know by now
to leave well enough alone?
Are my actions of kindness
what triggered the mines?
Do I mistake helping
for crossing the line?
God is a guide
who wants to lead,
who tells me to kick the darkness
until daylight starts to bleed.
May I follow in faithfulness
while being gentle with all.
May I be present and ready
when He gives the call.

I wrote this 6 years ago. I don’t remember exactly what I was thinking, but I know it was to conceal my own thought while being brutally honest about surface material. I did a good job of concealing it from myself. 😉

Bloody Love

Love and blood
are so easily mixed.
Sin and betrayal
are quickly fixed.
Though we fight
to have our way,
God prevails
and saves the day.
Family, friends,
enemies and foes
can be a blessing
or bring endless woes,
but God is greater
with His mercy and grace.
By saving power
all falls into place.
Blood and love
are precious to all.
Thank God the cross
saved us from the fall.

You Were Dear

A sign is left behind
that you were here.
You were loved.
You were dear.
Your life is gone,
Your spirit near.
How we miss
You being here.
We love you brother.
We miss you so.
God is blessed.
This we know.
Hug him for us,
As you wait along.
I hope we won’t
Be too long.

This was written for my baby brother Charlie who was killed when he was 37 years old. My mom had him 10 months after I was born. I always told everybody he was my 1st birthday present. Some people thought we were twins because we shared the same age for a couple of months each year.
His 2 favorite songs at the time of his death were
I Can Only Imagine by MercyMe, and Long Black Train by Josh Turner

My Love Will Never End

God touched a little girl broken and abandoned
and said, “I’ll be your friend.”
He drew her into His arms and loved her,
and promised He would to the end.
As she grew, she lived on His word,
never able to forget.
Whenever she made a mistake that hurt Him,
she would soon regret.
Tormented by guilt and shame of her choices,
she grew away more each day.
Her Lord came in patient mercy and asked,
“Why do you push me away?”
With tear filled eyes, she looked into His
and simply replied,
“You said you would love me to the end,
but one day I will die.”
With concern He looked at her and reassured,
“But that will keep us together.”
“Yes,” she said, “If I had no sin in my life.
But only Heaven and Hell are forever.
You said you would love me to the end
and that I have believed.
But I am filled with sorrow to know
at my death You must leave.”
Touched by the misunderstanding
of the heart He knew He could mend,
God lovingly responded, “Then let me rephrase that,
my love for you will never end.”

Eternally Puzzled and Amazed

God… my friend… a man I betray,
Yet His response is to lead the way.
Rejected, mocked, and abused so much,
God offers His forgiving and loving touch.
Defiled, plagued, and insulted at heart,
He refuses to allow sin to drive us apart.
Weak, pathetic, no backbone to believe,
God continues to vow to never leave.
Lost, confused, with no direction,
God comforts and guides with His protection.
Eternally puzzled and amazed by God,
I lay my soul in the love He’s got.

Pals and Buddies

Pals and buddies,
would that be us?
We do have a friendship
that is so tough.
Well we laugh and scream,
and playfully fight,
and whistle at the girls
whenever in sight.
Ball games and fishing,
T.V. and movies.
We do a lot of things
that are so groovy.
Five years from now
will be the time of our lives,
but I bet in ten
we will have wives.
Yet, even then,
we will still be a trip.
So let’s go to the movies
and let it rip.

PS. Charlie and Homey had me write this just for the fun of a challenge.
I miss my baby Brother. He’s been with Jesus now 10 years.
