Just to Talk

Oh how I long to talk to one
Who will simply sit and listen,
Not expecting anything great,
Nor tell me what they think.
I just wish I could talk
And talk,
Just saying what comes to mind.
For anything could appear.
I’m, at the moment, feeling blue.
If only I had a friend to turn to.
I wish someone were here,
Just to talk and talk.
I have so much on my mind.
If only I could talk…
…would I?

He Is a Friend

In many troubles in my life,
I’ve searched the world for friends.
And every time I stumbled harder,
I’d see I was alone again.
But it seems I’ve seen the truth
Of what a friend should be,
And with the things it takes to be,
Only God is a friend to me.
Only Jesus can erase the pain
And tell you what’s right for you.
It’s only God that can know your heart.
Only He can see you through.
Many times before I thought
I would die alone in the end.
But when I turned to God for help.
I saw that He is a friend.

PS. I love You, God!
PSS. So glad gave me a new outlook on friendship, and many blessed souls in Christ to call a friend… especially Jesus! What a Friend We Have in Jesus ❤

To Trust You

First, you must hold a candle
To all those who have deceived.
Secondly, you must be convincing
Enough to make me believe.
Next, you must be willing to stay
When I need you the most.
And hopefully you would realize
I need someone to hold.
Fifth, you would have to be aware
Of the cruelty in betrayal of confidence.
Sixth, you would have to believe in me,
For I am suppose to be your friend.
Seventh, you must be willing to accept me
Just the way I am.
Eighth, you must respect my privacy,
And yet also understand.
Ninth, you would have to be merciful
To forgive me at my worst.
And last of all, you would have to survive,
Knowing I wanted you to hurt.

How Do I Know You Care

Simply holding me for one.
Sticking around would be another.
To talk with me as a friend,
Instead of using me as your lover.
To be interested in what I have to say.
For it to be your choice to want to stay.
To know when I’m lying about my mental health,
When what I’m doing is protecting myself.
To make me cry when I continue to laugh.
To give me your all and never half.
To say you care about my distrust.
And to let me have you to trust.

Inspiration: TW challenging me to write about how I know someone cares. It’s interesting to look back at what I thought over almost 30 years ago. God does amazing things to heal our way of thinking! God is my hero! ❤

David

David, how do I explain?
I don’t understand it myself.
I guess it’s just an open book,
I desperately need help.

You are so sweet.
You hold back so much.
Why don’t you argue?
Or even cuss?

Mending this friendship,
Would it survive?
How is it after death,
We are revived?

What It Costs

To have someone care for you,
You must be willing to live alone.
To have someone to care for,
You must make it on your own.
To love someone so very much,
You must be ready to let them go.
To have someone love you too,
You must accept a simple no.
To have a friend be there,
You must be willing to sacrifice.
To be a friend to them,
You must be aware of the price.

PS. I am so glad God came into my life and taught me a much better way of love, friendship, and caring for one another. The last thing we should let anyone convince us (including ourselves) is that we are better off alone. Our relationships with one another should reflect our relationship with Christ, so that others may see their need for Him, and how marvelously wonderful His love is! ❤

And God Steps In

The morning brings the sun and love comes to be.

He promises me forever then walks out on me.

He tries to reenter but only visits.

God steps in and says, “That’s it!

No one will hurt or use My child!

There was a reason My Son walked her mile.

She’s made in My image and carries My will.

For this loved one of Mine, I would kill.

So down on your knees. Beg for mercy from Me.

If you’ll just repent, I will set you free.”

A friend runs over to share a laugh.

Yet all she wants is to ask and ask,

“Will you do this or that to risk your soul?

Surely you know our friendship is gold.”

God steps in and says, “No playing games!

I know exactly what’s going on, and I’m taking names.

You will not deceive or lure My daughter.

She is the reason My only Son was slaughtered.

To betray this young heart with pain in any way

Will leave you in danger of judgment day.

So down on your knees. Beg for mercy from Me.

If you will repent, I will set you free.”

Christians fellowship to honor and praise God.

Yet somehow it’s the Lord that they have forgotten.

Selling Bibles, charging church membership fees.

God quickly and angrily thunders, “On your knees!!

It’s when you slander My name that you sin.

I will not tolerate it. I must step in!

So down! Down on your knees. Beg for mercy from Me.

If you’ll just repent, I will set you free.”

It’s a Gift To Be Your Friend

Friends and homes are hard to come by,

Yet so wonderfully belong together.

Searching for either can lead us astray,

Or it can lead us to loving hearts.

Thank God that Jesus goes with us

No matter which place we find.

When you are down, He is there to cheer you up.

When you are happy, He is there to share in your joy.

And whether you have friends or find moments alone,

It is the greatest feeling to know He loves you always.

I pray that you know Jesus is your friend,

And that you are always welcome in His home.

Meanwhile, God allows people like me the privilege

To be your friend and welcome you into my home.

What a gift for me to have been allowed to know such a friend.

I thank Him for the honor.

Please feel free to be my friend

In my heart, home, or anywhere… any time.

For My friend Eric Jones
As his Christmas Poem as his present

Continuing Losses

Everybody is going to grow and move.
They’re finding their way to live.
They’re not even concerned with me,
or all the love I willingly give.
They’re going to carry on in life
and never see me again.
I’m so sad to know I’m going to lose
my dearest and closest friends.
I can’t go on knowing I’ll lose
every person I come to know.
I know we must live our lives,
but why must everyone have to go?
Cry, cry, and cry inside
to know they’re going away.
It’s like they’re dying over and over
when I need them most to stay.
I want to live forever with them
and share our lives together.
I can’t go on loving others
knowing no one loves forever.
It’s just so cruel to know that life
can steal our every friend.
It makes me want to make my move
and hope my world will end.

Still Be Friends

A note to you my little friend,
this poem is just for you.
I really hope that we stay friends,
and I know that you do too.
All the fun that we could have
     would be a total blast.
Though all the troubles we may reach,
     our friendship, it will last.
Music, writing, poems, and books,
a lot of things to share.
And when you need a real good friend,
I’ll always want to be there.
Together we will have some fun
     and never let it end.
And when the world has lost its life,
     we will still be friends.

Your Secret’s Kept

Jesus is the only friend
who really keeps your secrets.
He knows how much they mean to you,
He never will forget.
He’s the only one who knows the truth,
and why the truth was there.
He knows you only made a mistake,
and the memory is hard to bear.
He doesn’t try to show it off,
that He had gained your trust.
He knows the pain it caused your heart,
and remembers an oath is just.
For what you’ve done to gain the shame
of something you regret,
is simply an error of your life
to which your secret’s kept.

Church

Church is a place I long to know
and come to see God’s house.
I want to hear His children sing
and watch them become aroused.
I love to see so many souls
gathered to bring Him praise,
to hear the preacher preach the word,
as his voice will sometimes raise,
and all the restless children play,
as they find it hard to sit still,
but oh the sweetest things they say
as they are taught about God’s will.
The choir works so faithfully
to beautify their sound,
to shout a joyful melody
of how they’re heaven bound.
Church is where I long to be
and where I want to belong,
for it makes my world much easier
to hear the faith so strong.

My God (He Understands)

He’s gentle and kind,
loving and understanding.
He’s never too scornful,
nor too demanding.
He understands the pain
I feel when I’m hurt.
He knows that I’m human
and am made from dirt.
He knows I’m a sinner
and do the evil things,
but He knows I’m a believer
in all that He brings.
——
He doesn’t expect miracles
when I’m down on myself.
He doesn’t disown me
when I know I need help.
He doesn’t defriend me
when I abuse His love for me.
He doesn’t try to push me
when I’m too scared to see.
Instead, He is there
to show me He cares
and that my heartache and pain
are my feelings He shares.
—–
He gives me His word
and provides it with blood
to say that it’s as worthy
as it was of the flood.
He hears me in prayer
and accepts my apology,
doesn’t betray me
or says He forgot me,
takes my hand and
leads me to light,
holds me and comforts me
to help me through the night.
—–
And when I am scared
or feeling alone,
He doesn’t abandon me
to face it on my own.
Instead, He is there
to say, “I’m here,”
to comfort my soul
and dry my tear.
He won’t be ashamed
or laugh at my fear.
He’ll erase all the clouds
and make everything clear.
He won’t be angered
to see me in doubt.
He won’t deny me
or throw me out.
Instead, He’ll always love me
and lead me by the hand
because He’s waiting to take me home
and tell me why He understands.

He’s Still There

God is still there.
He’s still in my heart.
I thought we were separated,
but we were never apart.
He wouldn’t walk away
or say, “I give up.”
Instead, He embraced me
and gave me His love.
Why did I feel that He
had closed His eyes to me,
when all He ever wanted
was to help me to see
that I am His child
and always in His hands?
When I’m feeling so lost,
He always understands.
Why do I fall for it,
the trick of the evil lie
that God will throw us away
if we don’t even try?
For this is the time
that He promised to forgive.
He’s not going to take away
the love He wants to live.

As A Friend Would

God… God was the one who was with me,
with me through it all.
He never walked away.
He never left me alone.
He never said,
“You’ve got to face this on your own.”
Instead… He was there.
He comforted me.
He befriended me.
He saw me through my pain…
as a friend would.
