My God, My Everything!

My God, my Friend.
I love You to the end,
And then
I love You eternally,
Forevermore.
Thank You for loving me
The same…
And more than
I could ever imagine.
Thank You for spending
Quality time with me.
Please forgive me
Of when I cheat You
Of such moments to treasure.
You are my Soulmate!
My Bridegroom.
My Lord.
My Savior.
I love You!

Inspiration: Friends use to challenge me to write a poem about them using the letters that spell their name. This was for my dear friend Kelly who was also my neighbor.
Sadly, she moved away and we lost contact.

He’s My Savior

Head hung low… with sadness so great.

He lifts my chin with His hand and says, “I love you.”

His smile brightens my darkened world.

His eyes tell me I’m special.

His arms are opened to embrace me

And I gladly allow them to.

No matter how bad I feel,

He is always there with a smile,

A hug,

A shoulder to cry on.

He’s the strength of my life.

He is the rock of my salvation.

No matter what I go through,

I know I can count on Him.

Many people can make me smile

And make me feel like I’m loved.

But no one else can make me feel like

They can carry me through it all.

No one can be my Savior like Jesus is.

A lot of people make me feel so much better

With the love, hugs, and kisses,

But no one is like my Jesus.

He is my Friend, my Brother, my Comfort.

He’s my Savior.

Through the Years

Through the good and through the bad,
our share of troubles we’ve had.
Yet, somehow we lay here tonight
and everything seems to be alright.
When the sun comes up and shines,
I want you to say that you’re mine.
And when we are together years ahead,
we will be glad that we were wed.

The Vow

Placing a ring upon my finger,
you solemnly took a vow
to love me all the days and nights
like you love me now.

Well, Honey, let me tell you this.
I love you just as strong.
And as long as you want me,
the vow will never go wrong.

PS. My friend Dawn asked me to write a book of poetry just for her. (I have done this all my life for friends or anyone who asks.) This poem was on a topic she asked me to write because she was so excited about her engagement.

2-6-15 Note to You

Lord God,
Thank You for being so personal,
for always being there for me.
Thank You for being the friend
everyone wishes they had
(and do if they give themselves to You).
Thank You for listening to
my ranting, venting, and complaining.
Thank You for whispering, speaking, and shouting to me.
Thank You for holding me
and emboldening me.
Thank You for helping me
get through each trying day.
And thank You for giving me strength
when it feels like I have none.
Thank You for putting up with
my crying, my whining, and my letting You down.
Thank You for forgiving, restoring, and rebuilding me…
to be faithful, strong, and obedient.
Thank You for loving me,
and for being You!

Shelter in You

So many times
I have hidden in You,
as You have comforted me
and blessed me too.
Your shelter is a shelter of love,
protecting within Your wings.
Nothing and no one will break through
when You are in charge of things.
How often I have fled
from enemies in pursuit.
While they were shooting at me,
You have silenced them mute!
What mighty love and protection
I cherish in Your very self.
You are my God, my Friend,
my ever present Help.

Content Being Just Yours

Many times I have leaned on a shoulder
of someone giving me courage to be bolder.
Many times I have wept and cried
to someone staying so close by my side.
Cheer and excitement, joy and pleasure,
I have shared with someone I treasure.
Yet through the years of trying love,
you sent me something from you above.
Contentment that life is just you and me.
The best relationship ever has set me free.
Blessed with singleness, I am set aside.
I am to be no one else’s bride.
All my gain from companionship
has always been your sweet fellowship.
Strengthening me. Strengthening my day.
You’ve been there to encourage me all the way.
No other strength could be so giving.
Being just yours makes life worth living.

Whispers Loud and Clear

Seeking for You, to hear from You,
life fights to clog my mind.
If it weren’t for Your rescue,
I would journey blind.
Stress seems to contradict
all that lies in Your word.
The world screams so loud.
You can barely be heard.
But the Holy Spirit
whispers so loud and clear.
His loving ways
allow me to hear.
Comfort, peace, protection
in a God who is my friend.
Just hang on, Gail,
this too shall end.

My God (He Understands)

He’s gentle and kind,
loving and understanding.
He’s never too scornful,
nor too demanding.
He understands the pain
I feel when I’m hurt.
He knows that I’m human
and am made from dirt.
He knows I’m a sinner
and do the evil things,
but He knows I’m a believer
in all that He brings.
——
He doesn’t expect miracles
when I’m down on myself.
He doesn’t disown me
when I know I need help.
He doesn’t defriend me
when I abuse His love for me.
He doesn’t try to push me
when I’m too scared to see.
Instead, He is there
to show me He cares
and that my heartache and pain
are my feelings He shares.
—–
He gives me His word
and provides it with blood
to say that it’s as worthy
as it was of the flood.
He hears me in prayer
and accepts my apology,
doesn’t betray me
or says He forgot me,
takes my hand and
leads me to light,
holds me and comforts me
to help me through the night.
—–
And when I am scared
or feeling alone,
He doesn’t abandon me
to face it on my own.
Instead, He is there
to say, “I’m here,”
to comfort my soul
and dry my tear.
He won’t be ashamed
or laugh at my fear.
He’ll erase all the clouds
and make everything clear.
He won’t be angered
to see me in doubt.
He won’t deny me
or throw me out.
Instead, He’ll always love me
and lead me by the hand
because He’s waiting to take me home
and tell me why He understands.

As A Friend Would

God… God was the one who was with me,
with me through it all.
He never walked away.
He never left me alone.
He never said,
“You’ve got to face this on your own.”
Instead… He was there.
He comforted me.
He befriended me.
He saw me through my pain…
as a friend would.
