Soul Expression

If I write a poem,
Will I be set free,
Or will they read
And just judge me?
Should I let that matter?
It locks my soul within.
Being open is not a crime.
Expression is not a sin.
Yet I still care for God
All that I say or do,
For others attach God
To everything about you.
I want to set the example,
Yet I also want to express.
Could it be Godly
To share with the rest?
Could it be God’s will,
His gift for me to share
That others might see
For even our brokenness
He cares?
Dear Lord, I pray Your will
Upon my soul and pen.
If it be Your gift to me,
Help me to set it in ink.

In Agreement Or Not

In agreement or not,
we can reach the lost,
but peace is better
to bring them together.
Bringing God’s word
to those who have not heard,
reaching the mind
of another kind.
We are all made of God.
We all have to trod
on this earth below
till it’s time to go.
Jesus is the one to decide
who He will let inside.

God, Help Them

He stands at the podium and preaches with earnest intent,
praying to save the lost souls.
When the congregation looks disinterested or asleep,
his spirit is saddened… God, keep him be bold!
She sits in the pew like a good wife on duty.
She is there for anything anyone may ask.
Underneath she has other worries and duties to remember…
family, friends, the house… God, help her with each task.
He stands in the parking lot, watching for each child.
The school holds him responsible for anything gone wrong.
Rushing parents, energetic kids, so many cars to watch.
He must keep the order… God, help him to be strong.
She watches the children as they play together.
Their parents have entrusted them with their lives.
As sick as they are, or caring for their own families,
they gladly do it… God, help these moms and wives.
These wise people sitting in the pews so long,
look at all they have brought to the church body.
These elders are our guides and friends
who know strife and Jesus… God, help them love everybody.

For my dear friends

Floating Nest

Moanings and groanings,
I hear all around me.
The flock is restless.
Their sighs have found me.
The unknown day
of opening the door
seems so far away
when we’ve found no shore.
Our lingering spirits
threaten to doubt
all that God has promised
to bring us out.
As our prayers are lifted,
a calming arrives.
His Faithful Spirit
lovingly revives.
The flock is comforted
and finds sweet rest
knowing that God provided
this floating nest.
