Oh Taste and See

Rain trickles down the window pane.
The glass reveals the storm.
The misty clouds drop their blessings
Where the dry ground began to form.
The flowers tilt underneath the weight
Of the life giving moisture,
Yet when the rays of life return
They will regain their posture.
Birds are hidden away for shelter,
Some tucked underneath their set of wings.
Their bird baths are being generously filled,
And soon they will again sing.
The children run and play in the puddles,
And tilt their heads back to taste and see
Oh how good and faithful
The Lord is to you and me.

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

No Throwaways!

“No throwaways!” You assure me.
“I throw nothing of Mine away.
You are a treasured gift for Myself.
Do you have any idea what you mean to Me?
Block out what the world has told you.
Block out the doubt, little faith, and unbelief.
Hear Me, and only Me.
You are My precious child, My dear friend,
My daughter, and My beloved.
My bride that I wait so patiently for
Because she’s well worth the wait.
Never will you be tortured with mind games from Me.
I am NOT the father of confusion.
I am your Counselor, Wonderful, Faithful, and True.
I am known by Mine, and Mine know Me.
I look forward to loving you every new day.
I love you more and more.
No throwaways! You’re for keeps!”

My Heart Cry For You

Father God, Hear my cry.
I long to live for You.
Obedient and faithful,
Humble and true.
Strengthen my spirit,
Encourage my soul.
Your healing hand
Can make whole.
Be my Teacher.
Be my Guide.
Be my Counselor,
As You faithfully abide.
Lead the way.
Light my path.
Keep my soul
From Your Justified wrath.
Hold my heart
And keep it safe.
I know with You
Is the safest place.

Visitors In Your House

A visitor comes to Your house.
Yet another makes two.
They’ve come to fellowship,
To worship You.
Their eyes seek Your people.
Your people extend their hand.
They try to comfort
And teach to understand.
The card is signed
“I’m new to here.”
The pastor reassures,
“You are so dear.”
The children are adored
by all who were blessed.
They show the crafts made.
Oh how cute they’re dressed.
Farewell to our visitors.
Farewell to your souls.
We pray they’ll return,
Or at least be Yours whole.

Your Inviting Pursuit

How often Your love pursues me,
And never tires.
You are constant.
You are faithful.
You are unconditional.
How much we need Your likeness.
We strive to follow
As much as Your love will allow.
You are welcoming.
You are inviting.
You leave Your door…
Wide open,
Unlocked,
Swinging both ways,
Because You are the door.
As for ours,
You stand at the door and knock.
To all who knock on Yours,
Your door will be opened.
I knock.
I am welcomed into Your arms.

Shielded By The Savior

Lives pour throughout the century,
A plea to survive the struggle.
Tragedies overwhelm the soul.
Evil attempts to smuggle.
There is no open road for sin
To take control of the Lord’s.
The temporary false hope
Convinces evil to try a little more.
Consistent, persistent,
Never willing to waiver,
Evil loses to the very enemy
Shielded by the Savior.
Praise You, Lord, for Your faithfulness.

God is a Wonderful Person

God is a wonderful person
Who knows how to love me.
No matter what I do wrong,
He can still put up with me.
He knows what I want.
He knows what I need.
And He knows it has nothing
To do with greed.
He’s very patient and loving,
Kind, and understanding.
He’s never too forceful,
Nor too demanding.
I wish I could do for Him
What He’s done for me,
But there will never be a way
To give back the generosity.
Oh, woe to the love of the God
By which I am known.
He’ll never abandon me,
Or leave me alone.
Praise GOD!
Love Him or not,
He is the One.
Love God’s Son.

There Is A Friend I Know

There is a friend I know.

He asks me to be his lover.

He vows he cares for me so,

Yet he’s quick to touch another.

There is a friend I know

Who asks me to be her support.

Yet anytime she needs me,

I am not the one she seeks for.

There is a friend I know.

He says he’s always there.

Yet when I’m broken in tears,

He really couldn’t care.

There is a friend I know.

She wants me to follow her lead.

Yet wherever we end up,

It is our hearts that tend to bleed.

There is a friend I know.

He says I’m worth the wait.

Yet when I hold him to that,

This love can turn to hate.

There is a friend I know.

She wants me to be like her.

But she never trusts anyone

Because she only remembers the hurt.

There is a friend I know,

He asks who are my friends.

He says if they think they are

Then they should “be” a friend.

He does not make a vow to break.

He does not seek to hurt me.

He only seeks to love me.

    His name is Jesus! ❤

So Many Searching Souls

A night out on the town,
Just to relieve some stress,
To get a little fresh air.
Yet so many souls search for comfort
In such wasteful ways.
Alcohol cannot take away their pain.
That’s why they end up crying, puking,
Or doing something they normally wouldn’t do.
Drugs only damage the brain
And addict the nerves.
Sleeping around only reminds them
How alone they really are.
And when they realize they have shared such a personal moment
With someone who doesn’t care either,
It only makes them more depressed.
Jealousy invades their integrity
And then only causes hardship on all.
What a shame they can’t go to God in prayer.
If we all are going to end up on our knees,
Why don’t we do it from the beginning
And save a lot of unnecessary pain?
If only the Bible could guide them.
They are always looking for answers,
Yet ignore them, as they lay in the good book.
If they would call on God and allow His presence to be their comfort,
He would be faithful to answer.
The Holy Spirit could fill them with a far greater joy than liquor.
Oh God, so many souls are lost and searching.
They walk in pain and live in agony.
They desperately want a way out.
I know this world is a cold place to be sometimes,
And I know all too well the pain and loneliness.
But, Jesus, You are the only way to a peaceful life,
A joy filled heart, and an eternal haven.
I pray for all the lonely and heartbroken souls.
I pray for their peace, comfort, and joy for living.
I pray they come to You for these things
Because You are the only way they’ll find them.
In my sweet Jesus’ name I pray – Amen.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN

How in the world do I write what I have seen?

How do I testify, yet beautify the ugly that’s been?

If I tell all of the good and none of the bad,

No one will ever believe the good I’ve had.

Yet if I tell all the bad and not the good,

I and You would be very misunderstood.

Different worlds have different backgrounds,

And even joy has different ways to abound.

You have saved me from so much bad,

Your salvation being what made me glad.

Yet so many have fallen along the way,

Sometimes it seems necessary to say.

How unfair it seems not to recognize

Souls who have had such tragic lives.

Not everyone wants to destroy their world,

But not everyone has the privilege of self-control.

What I have seen I will have to write,

As I wait for You my pen to guide.

May it always be to glorify You

And every word be faithfully true.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

He Will Restore

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away,
Blessed be the name of the Lord each day.
For the God who is our ever present help in need
Knows our hearts and cares if we bleed.
Trials can be so challenging and hard.
It’s tempting to make your heart a guard.
So much loss can steal your joy,
It’s hard to be happy over what’s destroyed.
But pray that God will help us keep our tongue
And see us faithfully through till all is done.
He will restore what He has taken from us,
Unless He sees it wasn’t best for us.
I cannot explain why things are as they are.
I just know God cares and is never far.

The Only Everlasting Love

God gives us special people
in our ordinary lives.
Love that seems endless
unfortunately has to die.
Love that seems imperfect
must expose its flaws.
Love that seems innocent
comes out with the claws.
The only love perfect and true,
and that will never die
is the love that gave His life
to give eternal love on high.
He is the only faithful love
that will never abandon or betray.
He is the only love
that will never go away.

A Pastor’s Love

A pastor’s love for his people.
A shepherd’s heart for his sheep.
He is so protective
With those he’s been given to keep.
A faithful prayer warrior.
A faithful attentive ear.
A servant ready to serve.
A friend who’s always near.
God’s man is always on duty.
He’s always on call.
Never leaving his flock,
Even when they fall.
Interceding for his fold.
Interacting with his people.
Strengthening the strong.
Carrying the feeble.

Holy Confidence

Shhh… secrets of God!
Too fragile to be spoken.
Vows of confidence
Not to be broken.
Strength of honor
Hidden Within.
Trial of endurance
Not to give in.
Treasured whispers.
Precious thoughts.
Valuable lessons
Patiently taught.
Faithful silence.
Devoted oath.
Holiness is given
In both.

Your Secret’s Kept

Jesus is the only friend
who really keeps your secrets.
He knows how much they mean to you,
He never will forget.
He’s the only one who knows the truth,
and why the truth was there.
He knows you only made a mistake,
and the memory is hard to bear.
He doesn’t try to show it off,
that He had gained your trust.
He knows the pain it caused your heart,
and remembers an oath is just.
For what you’ve done to gain the shame
of something you regret,
is simply an error of your life
to which your secret’s kept.
