SOULLESS

Deceased…
The absence of a soul.
Buried…
Placed within a hole.
Dead…
Without breath of life within.
Killed…
The victim to one’s sin.
Gone forever…
Impossible to bring them back.
So sad…
The laughter you come to lack.
Irreplaceable…
The one you miss so much.
The body…
Of one you truly loved.

EULOGY

A word or two for the deceased.
The soul buried beneath the soil.
One who cannot speak for themselves
at the one time they have everyone together.
What would they say?
You’d be surprised.
They would confess their
Resentment,
Their pain,
Their hurt.
My words would be…
…alas you are all comforted to know
That I am relieved of the ache.
I can no more be deceived.
No longer will I be lied to.
Or played the fool.
I am dead.
And also – no longer loved!
