Shattered Dream Come True

He was a dream come true,
A dream I came to have,
A dream I came to cherish,
A dream I came to hold.
He told me how he cared,
As held me through my pain,
And as I lived the dream,
I felt the pouring rain.

Only If

If only he could love me, Lord,
Half as much as You.
If only He could understand
The things You see me through.
If only he could hold me close,
As You have done before.
If only he could care for
The things You love me for.
If only he could share his life
With me as You would.
If only he could support me to
Do the things that are good.
If only he could save my day,
As You do every minute.
If only there were a world
Where both of You are in it.
Well, Lord, if he were anywhere
Near enough to You,
I wouldn’t have the things to love
That I’ve always found in You.

Shelter Me

You said you wanted to hold me.
Well, open your arms.
You said you wanted to woo me.
Well, use your charms.
You said you wanted to marry me.
Well, meet me down the aisle.
You said you wanted to live with me.
Well, sit back for awhile.
You said you wanted to protect me.
Well, shelter me with care.
You said you’ll always need me.
Well, I’ll always be there.
