Persuaded By Love

Persuaded by love, I live.
I accept and cherish all He has to give.
Day by day, I will trust
That He will be my strength to do what I must.
Night after night, I will cling to Him,
Remembering many hurting souls need to know He loves them.
Life is challenging, but worth the breath.
We should live to honor His death.
Every moment is a treasured gift.
We are here to love, save, and lift.
Thank You, God, for mercy and grace,
And for teaching us Your loving ways.
Thank You for being new every day,
And leading us all along the way.
Thank You for never giving up on us,
And sending Your precious Jesus.

Shaping Up

He rides… hoping in every mile
To undo the damage to her beautiful smile.
He hikes… hoping to leave behind
Every moment he was terribly unkind.
He climbs… hoping to gain the strength
To trust her rope of mercy length by length.
He runs… hoping to build
Character and strong will.
He paddles… hoping to push away
Everything wrong he did that day.
With every ounce of energy he hopes to reconcile.
“Thank you, God. There’s that beautiful smile.”

Tribulation: Life Dramatically Changed

Little girl. Authority figure. Life dramatically changed.
Life of innocence. Ugly Evil. Traumatically deranged.
Battle scars. Wounded thoughts. Walls that were not there.
Fear and dread. Guilt and shame. Heavy burdens to bear.
Loving King. Roaring Lion. Armor for the Soldier.
Sword and shield to fight the war. A pair of arms to hold her.
We’re warned in John 16:33 there shall be tribulation.
Be of good cheer, He has overcome. There is cause for celebration!
The snake will hiss, and sometimes bite. The scorpion will sting.
The dove will cover with shelter and comfort in His loving snowy wing.

Isolated For Christ

Isolated for a cause,
I search for a way to survive.
It’s not so tragic to try.
Christ had to strive.
No friends, no lover,
I must answer on my own.
Still my heart cries,
“It’s not good for [woman] to be alone.”
Church family accompanies.
Christians uplift each other.
But they have their own families.
They do not need another.
Days are so long.
Nights are even longer.
Fond memories of laughter
Make it hard to be stronger.
I do want to walk my walk.
I do want to talk my talk.
I just wanted to share the path
Without provoking God’s wrath.

Strength to Be Weak

Lord, please forgive me…
For selfishly asking for my life…
When it is Yours…
Given to the One who gave His to me.
Please forgive me…
For trying to usurp Your authority
When I plead to have my life ended
Before You have accomplished with it
What You want from it.
Even if it is only to be obedient.
Help me to do whatever it is You ask..
Whether to be strong
Or to have the strength to be weak.
In Jesus‘ Name, Amen!

Fear Belongs To God

Fear in the midst of storms…
God completely understands.
He is a caring and loving God
despite all that He commands.
He has the power
to control the winds and rain,
but He knows that at times
we’re doing all we can to stay sane.
He’s not so insensitive
as many make Him out to be.
He protects His children
and wants them happy,
yet He knows fear will rule us
and tempt us to run away.
Sometimes He’ll strengthen us,
sometimes actually lead us away!
Fear is God’s beginning of knowledge,
wisdom is in having fear.
The challenge is to cling to Him
and know He’s always near.

Hold Onto Me, Lord

I struggle God and only you can hear.
Only you care when I shed a tear.
Yet even then, you urge I prevail.
You must insist I cannot fail.
Yet when a failure I feel I must be,
You send an angel to comfort me.
Day after day escapes my life,
Yet you seem to enjoy my strife.
Just when the load is heaviest to bear,
I find you have taken what’s no longer there.
Hold onto me, Lord, as I’m so weak.
You are the only one who knows I seek.

Here I Go Again

God,
here I go again.
I asked for Your forgiveness
and now, I sin again.
What makes me think I have the right
to ask You to always care
if every time I’m going to run
just when You are there?
I want to live a life for You,
never running away,
but can’t even stay with You,
or find a word to say.
I’m trying to live my life by You
and hope the world will see
that even though I fall sometimes,
You’re still the world to me.

How Dare You!

How dare you show me life only to dangle it in front of me.
How dare you steal the time from me that you complain about.
I am so filled with anger at your insensitivity and rudeness.
You only care that life has not yet taken me out.
You preach and pretend to seek what’s best,
But it’s only if what’s convenient for you.
If it doesn’t fit your protocol, timing, or understanding,
You give up and I am through.
You cruel and selfish degree.
You rob life and health from me.
It’s easy to blame someone else
For what you can’t or won’t help.
Your patience, your time, even your passion
Are no match for my anxiety against your compassion.
How dare you show me life.
How dare you dangle it in front of the dying.
What do you care at the end of the day,
As long as you don’t have to see me crying?
Well you’ll get your wish soon enough.
Death will show it’s stronger than you.
Then back to life you go, as I disappear.
Isn’t that what you always do?

Too Much For One

Too much for one person,
God understands our need
for others to come alongside
and help to accomplish a deed.
Personal accountability
is given to each to learn
that if one is given too much
they can feel burned.
We are all His body.
The body has a head.
We must all work together,
not act brain dead.
Our leaders are so precious
that we need to help where we can,
if we want to keep
this godly woman or man.
Trust God to lead us
and show what is needed.
If it be His instruction,
may His word be heeded.
