Abandoning the Presence of God

When we move without waiting on God
Because we feel like He’s not with us,
It’s a gross error of judgment
On a God who is faithful and just.
When we justify our own actions,
And move in our own strength,
Not worry about the cost,
And go to any length,
It’s throwing God’s presence back in His face,
And saying He’s not needed.
We glorify our own praises
As obedience heeded.
Yet when God removes His favor,
And removes His presence too,
We suddenly feel so lost,
And don’t know what to do.
We cry out for His presence.
We cry out for His voice.
But we were the ones who abandoned Him.
We made our choice.
Sometimes those choices are permanent,
And cannot be reversed.
We must face the consequences.
We must face the worst.
There will be no God to call on.
There will be no God to speak to.
When you abandon God,
He will abandon you.

Obedience and Favor

Obedience and Favor go together.
They are key to Your Presence.
You’re either for us or against us.
You have no pretense.
No, I’m not talking about works,
Although You say faith without works is dead.
Obedience is about listening to You,
Then doing as You said.
Your favor can even help us
Do all You ask.
Even in fear, dread, or ignorance,
You are the strength for our task,
But when we fail to ask
If we even should,
Or wait for Your perfect timing
To do what we could.
It is just as disobedient,
As defiantly say NO.
If You are not ready to move,
We simply shouldn’t go.
Your presence is worth waiting on.
Your favor is above all treasure.
Obedience is more than just obeying.
It’s bringing You pleasure.
Keep me obedient, Lord to You.
I long to stay in Your favor.
There is no other place I’d rather be.
Your presence is to savor.
