Praying For Someone to Die

Praying for someone to die,
Is that even right?
Are there moments, Lord,
When it is more selfish
To pray for good health
Instead of sweet release?
How would we know
When You are calling to them?
How do we know if the crying soul
Is asking for mercy when we don’t understand?
And yet, who are we to play God?
Even if our hearts are wrenched
In sympathy for the hurting.
God help us to pray.
May the Holy Spirit teach us how.
May we listen and learn.
And may our hearts, minds, and prayers
Be more what YOU want.

Within The Age Cage

Young and happy,

enjoying life.

Not a trace

of any strife!

Isn’t this

what we miss

as we age

within the cage?

Trapped inside

trying to hide,

we actually dare

to share.

Does this make sense

to my friends?

It should.

They would.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN

How in the world do I write what I have seen?

How do I testify, yet beautify the ugly that’s been?

If I tell all of the good and none of the bad,

No one will ever believe the good I’ve had.

Yet if I tell all the bad and not the good,

I and You would be very misunderstood.

Different worlds have different backgrounds,

And even joy has different ways to abound.

You have saved me from so much bad,

Your salvation being what made me glad.

Yet so many have fallen along the way,

Sometimes it seems necessary to say.

How unfair it seems not to recognize

Souls who have had such tragic lives.

Not everyone wants to destroy their world,

But not everyone has the privilege of self-control.

What I have seen I will have to write,

As I wait for You my pen to guide.

May it always be to glorify You

And every word be faithfully true.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

We’re A Country

A country at war,

that’s what we are.

Are we keeping You

near or far?

A country in debt,

that’s what we owe.

Do we invest

or just say no?

A country of filth,

buried in our rights.

Is our cleansing

even in sight?

A country of pride,

we’ve thrown You out.

I don’t want to reject You.

Bring revival about.

Victory In One Name

What’s in a name?

That question is famously known.

I’d like to know the meaning

in my own.

Is it good or is it bad?

Do I live up to the name?

Do I do it proud

or bring it shame?

God allowed my name

to be given to me,

and knew those who met me

would hear and see.

I just pray that I live up to

all that God hopes me to,

for there is victory in His name

if I seek what He says do.

And there is only One name

to be above all names,

and it is in this Jesus Christ

that victory can be claimed.

Trusting People While Trusting You

Trusting people while trusting You,

trusting in the right thing to do.

Loving them because of loving You,

hoping they will be loving too.

Lord, help our time of misunderstanding.

Help us to take Your standing.

May all do all to glorify Your name,

to only want good and bring no shame.

You, Father, are so worthy of much.

May all be well by Your glorious touch.

TORN TOGETHER

Family… together yet torn.

Separated the day they were born.

Sharing the blood but not the life.

Different worlds but similar strife.

So alike yet completely opposite.

So true yet very dishonest.

Words cannot describe the loss felt

of family so ready to help.

People who help each other despite

anything that could cause a fight.

Now that family so greatly detests

seeing your face or wanting what’s best.

Praise God for family in Jesus Christ.

He will never leave nor forsake day nor night.

And greatest yet the comfort to know

Jesus even loves your family so!

This Day Of Rest

Lord, thank You for this day of rest.
So often we sure need it.
Our bodies just get so run down,
Especially when we don’t feed it.
Thank You that You know us better
Than we even know ourselves.
We would be in our graves way too early
If left to care for it ourselves.
Yet this day is to keep You first too
And that I certainly want to do.
You are so worthy and deserving of praise.
Please see my weary body’s hand trying to raise.
May Your name be honored and glorified!
May Your magnificence be magnified!
Praise You God for Your Holy day!
Praise You God for Your Holy way!
I love You, Amen!!

Things I’ve Heard While Reading You

Chariots, horses, and oxen too,
things I’ve heard while reading You.
Flowers, gardens, and vineyards grow,
each with a parable to learn and know.
Giants, ghosts, and angels who fly
make me want to know how and why.
A virgin, a carpenter, and a coming king
makes one want to hear the angels sing.
The wine, the dove, and a brother out of the grave
makes one glad He came to save.
The sweat, the cross, and the betrayal of friends,
Lord willing, makes one want to repent.

The Pen Flows

The pen flows…
the ink along.
It pens a poem
and then a song.
The hand does write
upon the pad,
a little joy,
a little sad.
The words do form
in what you read.
Does it please
or meet a need?
Take from it
what you will.
Endless joy
or nothing to feel.

Staying “In Tune” With Jesus

“So shall we be saved from our enemies”
when we remember to obey our God.
He wants to protect us from all,
but to tolerate disobedience He does not.
“Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies”
but it is the courage from God
that helps us not to flee.
“If God can be for us, who can be against us?”
The answer could actually be the worst
if we do not make sure to pray
and ask God’s wisdom first.
“Oh how the world to evil allures me.
Oh how my heart is tempted to sin.”
We must tell Jesus if we want Him to
“help us o’er the world the victory to win.”

Souls Trapped In Life

Lives trapped in souls
that are trapped in bodies,
that are trapped in life.
Brains struggling to cry
Leave me alone
And let me die.
Hands that reach for someone…
Anyone, and yet no one.
God is the only one who knows,
Who understands,
And only He can touch their hand.
God, hug Your children…
Embrace Your souls.
You are their only hope
And their hope is Yours.

Seeking You Early

Up at the crack of dawn,
that’s not me.
I try to keep busy,
but love, even NEED my sleep.
How do I seek You early
and gain Your favor?
You are worth the time
and it is to savor!
Help me to balance
Your perfect rest.
You promise Your children
sleep and rest.
Give me peace
in doing Your will.
Help me to know
You love me still.
See You in the morning,
talk to You tomorrow.
Day or night,
may Your love defeat sorrow!

Save My City

My city… my city…
my state and country…
we are all so filled with sin!
I wish I could save us all,
but I am filled with sin within.
Asheville has turned its eye away
from the God who loves her so.
They’d rather enjoy sexual preference
instead of a loving God who won’t let go.
Some of us are praying.
Some of us are trying,
but so many of us
just leave God crying.
Save us, God! Save us from ourselves!
Some of us want you AND your help.
Don’t let us be another Sodom or Gomorrah.
Please save our wicked city!
Please cleanse us from our filth!
Take heart and have pity!
SAVE US!
In Jesus Name, I pray, Amen!
