Life After Exodus

Born and bred in Egypt
To foreigners who came to dwell.
I was raised to be a slave,
But was treated very well.
Or so at least I thought,
Until You came for me.
You opened my eyes to my bondage,
And wanted to set me free.
It was a lot to understand.
It was a lot to believe.
You were patient in pursuing,
And helped me to leave.
The exodus was not easy.
My Pharaoh would not let me go.
But the mighty hand of my God
Has delivered me from my foe.
Living in a new life,
You’re teaching me Your ways.
But when the days get hard,
I think on the old days.
Please forgive me when I complain,
And fail to have faith in You.
I’m afraid of what’s ahead,
And Egypt was alI I knew.
The wilderness is scary,
But I’m learning to trust Your hand.
Every day I grow more excited
To reach the promised land.
