Almost Missed

A friend I have.
A friend I need.
A friend I almost
lost to speed.
Around the curve,
we took a hit,
and now we’re in pain
as we sit,
thinking of what could
have taken place.
We almost damaged
our cheerful faces.
The smiles would have cracked,
the laugh would have died.
Our friends and family
could have only cried.
Thank God we made it.
Our lives still exist.
And thank God for my friend
I almost missed.
